Engineering-geodetic surveys including engineering-hydrographic works are carried out to receive geodetic, topographic and hydrographic materials and data needed to explore natural and human forces in the area of construction of oil and gas structures, to justify project decisions and to provide other engineering explorations.

Visual inspection of underwater structures
Visual inspection of underwater structures with ROV is carrying out to complete the following clients’ tasks:
- project and survey works during pipeline installation or developing of subsea fields;
- sea bed cleaning from potentially hazardous objects;
- ensuring security of sea and offshore objects;
- environmental monitoring.
Visual and instrumental inspection of offshore structures and platforms.
Offshore structures visual and instrumental inspection is performed with aid of high resolution cameras and high resolution underwater cameras which are installed on work or observation remote operated vehicle (ROV). The offshore pipelines and cables observation is conducted with 360 degrees round view of linear structures in high resolution of video for detailed inspection of object surface condition. Offshore structures inspection is performed by contact and/or none contact inspection methods with various equipment such as:
- Multibeam echosounders. Real time definition of ground erosion or backfilling, critical pipeline freespans, underwater offshore structure location
- Pipetrackers. Pipeline or cable depth of burial and location in the ground
- Cathodic protection probes. Real time potential readings of metal structures protection against corrosion in water and can be defined by contact and none contact methods
- Ultrathikness probe. Metal plate thickness determination. Annual thickness monitoring can be used to detect the metal thinning.
- Look forward sonar. Is used for underwater orientation and navigation of ROV, defines the location of underwater structures and size, avoids collision with objects
- High precision depth sensors – detection of depth and elevation between two locations with high accuracy
- Underwater 3D scanner. Usually is used for high precision metrology
Additional equipment and tools are mounted on ROV to aid in inspection work and used for various tasks such as:
- Surface cleaning of marine growth, paint coating, rust. High and low pressure water jet, brushes are used
- Release of buried objects from stones, sand, silt, using high-performance dredging systems
- Preparation of sunk objects for recovery. Hydraulic cutter and circular saw are used
- Highly sensitive, multi-articulated manipulators are used to solve the above tasks
Video and data are recorded using special software and systems which allows to analyze the collected data in real time and make decisions about possible intervention to correct the found anomalies or damages. Comparison between annual inspections is performed to analyze and define changes of inspected structure or object.
All equipment and software are operated by highly qualified personnel with many years of experience, certified in accordance with the requirements of the Russian legislation on industrial safety, non-destructive testing. And in order to improve their skills and gain additional experience, personnel undergo trainings and foreign educations, thereby using not only Russian experience, but also the experience of foreign colleagues.
